Workshop Theme for August: Sichuan Harmony: Fire & Freshness on the Plate
The Chicago Chinatown Visitor Center is proud to present an exclusive partnership with world-renowned Chef Tony Hu, founder of the iconic Lao Sze Chuan Restaurants with 14 locations across the country. This hands-on cooking workshop is more than just a culinary lesson—it’s a cultural experience. We invite you to connect with Chinese heritage in a warm, interactive setting where every dish tells a story, and every bite is a celebration of tradition.
Workshop Highlights
This month’s featured menu for August 22, 2025, includes two signature Sichuan-style dishes:
- Chef’s Special Dry Chili Chicken, a signature creation from Chef Tony Hu, this dish is the star of numerous TV shows and interviews, including NBC, ABC, FOX, CCTV, and WGN.
- Lemon Crispy Shrimp, featured at 2025 ACF by Chef Tony Hu: Crispy fried shrimp in a zesty lemon sauce—light, tangy, and irresistibly refreshing.
Together, these two recipes embody the heart of Sichuan home-style cooking—one spicy, one mild—making them ideal for participants of all spice tolerance levels. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned foodie, you’ll gain hands-on experience with dishes that are as flavorful as they are culturally rich.
